Dr. Mikesell Retiring after 38 years
To All My Patients:
It is with mixed emotions that I am announcing my retirement from medical practice at the end of August 2016.  I have immensely enjoyed my pediatric practice for the past 38 years, but feel it is time for me to move on.  I would like to take this time to thank you for entrusting your child's health to my care.
At Shoreline Pediatrics PLC, there are three board certified pediatricians who will be accepting my patients; Dr. Jennifer King, Dr. Regina Ramirez, and Dr. Jennifer Hubbard.  They will continue to carry on the name of Shoreline Pediatrics and provide the excellent care you are accustomed to.  I encourage you to transfer your child's care to any one of them.  Any of which, I would entrust with the care of my grandchilden.
If you have any one of the following insurance plans; Priority Health, Priority Health Medicaid, Meridian Health Plan of Michigan, or Blue Care Network, please know that your child will be assigned to one of the above mentioned pediatricians as their PCP automatically.  If the PCP assigned by your insurance plan is not your preference, we will be happy to assist you in changing that.  If you should wish to leave Shoreline Pediatrics PLC for care elsewhere, please contact the office you will be transferring to and arrange for them to request your records.
As I begin the next chapter of my life, I will be living in the area with my wife enjoying our home, traveling, my cooking blog, in addition to walking our dogs.  Again, thank you for your confidence in me and allowing me to serve as your child's pediatrician.
Dan Mikesell D.O.

Heart Screening Program

Attention:  All High School Students

Mercy Health is offering FREE heart screening to all area high school students.  This program attempts to identify any pre-existing heart conditions that could potentially increase a student's risk of complications during athletic competition and/or vigorous physical activity.  This program is for all students regardless of participation in sports or not.  For more information, please visit Mercy Health.com/StudentHeart.

If you have a child in the 6-12 grade that plans to participate in a school sport,  be aware the physical will need to be done on or after April 15th.   Please keep this in mind when scheduling your teenagers yearly physical.  Call early to schedule!

FYI - Online Symptom Checkers

There are now several sites that you can help with accessing medical issues your child is having. They can help you at night to know if you can wait to see us tomorrow or need help now. Many people will find this more convenient than waiting for us to call back. If you need to contact us, please refer to the FAQ section of this site. Try this one for a start: Healthy Children which is run by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
